Recently Built Pools

You might not need a Form 23

If your pool was just built, your building certifier can issue a certificate that replaces the standard pool safety certificate.

Form 17 — Final Inspection Certificate

Issued by your building certifier once the pool passes its final inspection.

Form 11 — Certificate of Occupancy

For a building with a regulated pool. Also issued by a building certifier.

    How it gets lodged

The certificate must confirm your pool meets the standard, and your building certifier lodges it directly with the QBCC at:

    poolsafety@qbcc.qld.gov.au

(or by mail). Forms 11 and 17 can only be completed by a building certifier — not a pool safety inspector.

    Not a brand-new pool?

For existing pools you'll need a standard Form 23 pool safety certificate.
